ANAC and CAA-UK signed the Memorandum of Understanding - MoU

The signature process of the Memorandum of Understanding - MoU between ANAC and CAA-UK was concluded on December 2nd, 2020. The Agreement will come into force on January 1st, 2021, after the end of the UK transition period in the withdrawal from the European Union (BREXIT).

Currently, the relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom occur under the terms of the "Civil Aviation Safety Agreement between Brazil and the European Union". However, after the conclusion of BREXIT, this Brazil-EU Agreement loses its applicability to the United Kingdom.

The new MoU between ANAC and CAA-UK was established to assure the continuity of the technical cooperation existing today under the Brazil-EU Agreement in the areas of aeronautical product certification and maintenance organizations. Similar to the Brazil-EU Agreement, the MoU ANAC-CAAUK establishes guidelines for cooperation between authorities, and requires the establishment of specific work procedures, known as TIP - Technical Implementation Procedures and MAG - Maintenance Annex Guidance. Such procedures will be published in the future, still in 2020, with the objective of replicating, as much as possible, the work procedures already existing under the current Brazil-EU Agreement.
