In order to become an aircraft mechanic, it is necessary to successfully complete a course approved by ANAC, within one of the type ratings (GMP, CEL or AVI), in an entity (school) also certified by ANAC. The approximate duration of the course will be 13 months for each qualification.

As an Aircraft Mechanic, there are three possible specializations to get a type rating:

  • CEL (Airframe) - This is the type rating that works with all pressurization systems, air conditioning, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. It is also in this qualification that the interested person can work in the structure of airplanes and helicopters in general, in other words, the fuselage of the aircraft.
  • AVI (Avionics) - This allows the interested party to work on all electrical and electronic components of aircraft, including navigation instruments, radio navigation and radio communication, electrical and radar systems.
